WHAT YOU WILL FIND HERE

This collection of Bates Family books is available to those who would like further research or learn more about their BATES family lines and we have three resource categories for your perusal in order to help you make your selection for borrowing

BOUND NEWSLETTERS: The first 162 newsletters have been bound into 5 booklets, usually in 5 year increments. These booklets not for loan but for research by members during annual Bates Reunions.

FAMILY HISTORY BOOKS: Books covering specific branch of Bates Family Histories. These books have been sorted under specific branch of Bates to facilitate research.

LOCALITY BOOKS & NEWSLETTERS: Items categorized by location or subject matter. Newsletters sorted by states in which Bates were addressed. Newsletters may be purchased by $5 each. 

HOW TO DONATE A BOOK TO BFofOV LENDING LIBRARY

Our library is pleased to accept any book relevant to information about members of the Bates Family, to include family histories and reference books, such as census books, abstracted wills and deeds or county histories, etc.

If you have a duplicate book in your library or a family history, we would be so pleased to accept it. We will place it in our Lending Library and acknowledge your donation by letter in a future "Bates Booster" newsletter, where we will alert members of our new acquisitions.

BOOKS ON OUR WISH LIST

1. 1973 book "Descendants of Bates Ancestors Who Lived in Virginia" by Edward Everett Lanphere. The book covers several Bates branches, such as JY, WW and JS. Teh book is in 24 libraries nationwide. Before lost, BFofOV listed this book as No 03.

2. 1990 book "Tidewater Virginia Families" by Virginia Lee Hutcheson Davis. The book covers several Bates allied families, such as Butler, Fleming, Tarleton, Winston, and Woodson

3. 1969 book "Bates et al of Culpeper & Madison Counties by Thomas Wilson Chapman. Before lost, BFofOV listed this as Book No 07.

4. "Land Entry Book Record 1717-1770 for Halifax, Pittsylvania, Henry, Franklin, and Patrick Counties, VA." Before lost, BFofOV listed this as Book No 39.

HOW TO ORDER BOOKS FROM BFofOV Lending Library

Please limit your selection to no more than 2 books at one time. A book may be borrowed for up to 30 days. 

Mail the voucher below with a deposit of $15 per book. $5 per book will be kept by the library but the remainder will be returned to you upon return of the book.
